CMBAA General Meeting Minutes



Meeting called to order at   9:07  p.m.


Secretary's Report: 

Motion to approve minutes passed and carried.

Reminder that the 2018 revision of the CMBAA By-laws were adopted by majority vote June 12, 2018, and are available to review and download on the CMBAA website:


Treasurer's Report:

Paid $150.00 deposit to The Shannon Rose for the CHS Mustang Band 80th Anniversary, and $495.00 to Falls Music for bass drum stand repair.

Current CCB balance:              $2,847.62

Current CMBAA balance:        $10,480.39

Current Total balance:              $13,327.91

President's Report: 

President's opening remarks for the first meeting of the 2018-19 season.

Call for membership dues, and for current members to encourage others to join.

Reminder that the CHS Mustang Band 80th Anniversary Celebration will be held Saturday, November 24th, 12 - 3 PM at The Shannon Rose in Clifton, with a maximum of 55 attendees at $25/person and an RSVP date of Tuesday, November 20.

CMBAA meeting/event calendar in progress. Plan to send an email survey for preferred days/nights, times, and events.


Vice President's Report: 

Reiteration of the need to increase membership, and to continue to do more outreach to recent graduates.


Historian's Report: 

Invitation for increased participation on the alumni Facebook page,, including updating personal profiles, sharing memories, photos, and featuring different Mustangs on "Mustang Mondays."

The Historian also requests help with collecting and collating information for the Band timeline, and for alumni with Band photos to scan them to be digitally archived. Information from the 1950s is particularly needed.




The President expressed a desire to review and revamp the CMBAA website, as well as possibly switching from a Yahoo mail account to Google.


Discussion of possible fundraisers for the upcoming season included a Silk City Distillers tour, a Paint & Brunch, an axe-throwing event. Additionally, a possible change to the Bowling Night of changing the traditional pairs format to one of Alumni vs. Band Parents vs. Current Band members was suggested.

The President reiterated that suggestions are always welcome.


Liaison Comments: 

The new Band Trophy Case has been purchased with thanks extended to the CMBAA and special thanks to the Paris family. Thanks was also extended for assistance with the much-needed bass drum stand repair.
